The Insurance Dispute Resolution Services of B.C. was established in 1999. It operates at arm's length from the Insurance Brokers Association of B.C., and is operated as its own neutral and objective entity.

Insurance Dispute Resolution Services aids in settling disputes between any number of parties, in all aspects of insurance.

The organization is managed by a board of Trustees who come from key positions within the insurance industry.

Peter Wright:

Peter Wright acts as a consultant in areas which include maritime insurance, mediation, Arbitration, and lecturing. He acts principally for the insurance industry, law firms, and maritime industries.

Peter has been actively involved in the insurance industry for over 50 years. He has held senior management positions with major insurance companies in Canada.

In addition to his extensive insurance experience, he is a Chartered Arbitrator and a pioneer in the Dispute Resolution field, having acted as a mediator and arbitrator for more than 15 years. He has worked internationally and his assignments have taken him to destinations such as London, China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Russia and Norway. He has also given expert witness evidence in the Supreme Courts of British Columbia and Nova Scotia.

He was retained by the Oceans Institute of Canada as a Senior Research Associate for the International Northern Sea Route Programme (INSROP) for a period of 5 years.

He currently manages the Insurance Dispute Resolution Services of British Columbia.
