Initiation of proceedings
(i.e., mediation, arbitration and/or others) with other parties

Note: Fees are payable in advance by cash, cheque or money order (Visa and/or MasterCard).

Mediation Fee Schedules

A. For disputes involving less than $5,000:

  • Maximum time period one hour.
  • Additional fees at $175 per hour if mutually agreed upon to extend the session.
Flat Fee: $300.00  
GST:     15.00  
Total: $315.00 = $157.50 per party*

* Payable to the IDRSBC when requesting the mediation session.


B. For disputes involving more than $5,000:

Administration Fee: $300.00  
GST: 15.00  
Deposit toward the first 4
hours of the Mediator's time:
    700.00 (at $175 per hour)
Total deposit payable
to the IDRSBC:
$1,015.00 (shared equally by the parties)

Additional fees at $175.00 per hour may apply for:

  1. Time spent on preparation for the session, or
  2. Extra time for the session(s).

In addition, travel expenses and other out-of-pocket expenses, i.e., long distance, photocopying, etc., are payable to the Mediator.

Please Note: All fees are to be shared equally by the parties unless otherwise agreed. Parties may agree to limit the total amount of the claim to $4,999 in order to use the flat fee mediation service.

Arbitration Fee Schedules

A. Fees payable to the IDRSBC before the Arbitration:

Administration Fee: $300.00  
Deposit toward the first 4
hours of the Arbitratator's time:
    700.00 (at $175 per hour)
  $1,000.00  
GST:        50.00  
Total deposit payable: $1,050.00 (shared equally by the parties)


B. Additional fees, payable to the Arbitrator before the award is delivered:

Additional fees for the Arbitrator's time at $175.00 per hour apply for:

  1. Initial time spent on preparation for the session,
  2. Extra time for the arbitration itself, and
  3. Time spent writing the arbitration decision.

In addition, travel expenses and other out-of-pocket expenses, ie: long distance, photocopying, etc., are payable to the Arbitrator.



C. Additional fees, payable to the IDRSBC:

Additional fees may apply for ongoing or extended use of the meeting room and administrative services.

Please Note: All fees are to be shared equally between the parties, unless otherwise ordered by the Arbitrator.
