About IBABC
What is IBABC?
The origins of the Insurance Brokers Association of
B.C. date back to 1918, when Vancouver brokers formed the Vancouver
Fire Insurance Agents Association. Today, the IBABC has more than
760 member offices and representation from every region of the province.
The Insurance Brokers Association of B.C. works on
behalf of the public and professional insurance brokers. We answer
your questions about property, home and auto insurance and bring
your concerns to the attention of insurance companies, the government
or other organizations. For insurance brokers, we provide professional
education seminars and deal with other insurance organizations and
government on their behalf.
IBABC is the primary educating institution for British
Columbia insurance brokers. Our Association provides the pre-licensing
courses and the Continuing Education seminars that fulfill brokers'
mandatory education requirements to maintain their insurance sales
licenses. Each year, more than 2,000 insurance professionals and
aspiring insurance brokers in more than 40 locations across the
province take courses and examinations administered by the IBABC.
IBABC administers the Insurance Dispute Resolution
Services of British Columbia, which provides lower-cost alternatives
for settling insurance disputes. For information on this service
call Peter Wright at 604.606.8014.
