Can I write multiple CAIB exams on one exam date?

Because the allotted exam time is booked as a single 3 ½ hour block, it is not an option to write more than one CAIB exam on any given exam date.

This policy is in place due to the exceptionally high failure rate of people attempting more than a single exam in one day.

What if I have registered for a paper exam date but I am unable to write on that day?

We understand that, on occasion, emergencies (ei. personal illness/injury, death in the family) occur or that the preparation for the exam that students expected doesn't occur in the time allotted. If you need to change your exam date, for any reason, you may defer as long as we receive the request before the exam date passes.

If you defer prior to the registration deadline for the exam date in question, there is no cost associated with the deferral. In the event that you defer after the registration deadline, fee of $75 is applicable for all circumstances without exception.  This fee covers the cost of the exam itself, the space reserved for you at the venue and the personnel services that accompany the exam.  All of these things are booked in advance and the $75 fee goes to covering their cost in the event of a deferral.

What if I have registered for an online exam date but I am unable to write on that day?

Exam dates can be changed without charge provided the Licensing Course Coordinator is notified with 5 business days notice in advance of the exam date via email to .

How do I defer a paper exam?

In the event you are unable to write your exam as planned, we accept deferrals until 4:30 pm on the day of the exam. The deferral form and payment of $75 must be received by 4:30 pm on the day of your exam.  You can submit the form by fax to 604-683-8497 or by email PDF to  . Once the exam date has passed, deferral  will no longer be an option and the exam re-write fee of $195 will be applicable.  When deferring, you may choose one of the upcoming exam dates or choose to defer indefinitely by indicating TBA in the "exam date" field on the form.

How do I defer an online exam?

Deferrals must be submitted via email to . Please indicate your current exam date and time and that you wish to defer it.  Indicate the month and date you would like to move your exam to or indicate To Be Announce. No deferrals will be taken over the phone. Exam dates changed without 5 days notice are subject to an exam deferral fee of $75. All deferrals must be received no later than 4:30 pm on the date the exam was scheduled to take place.  Students must fill out the form found here with payment information and submit the form via email. In the event not deferral for is received, the student will forfeit their exam fee and will be required to re-register for the full cost of a re-write ($195)

Students have two options for the length of time their exams is deferred.

  • Deferred to a later date depend on availability
  • Deferred "to be announced" which will postpone the exam for up to 1 year from the date of registration

What if I miss my exam and don't defer (online/paper)?

Students who fail to show for an examination forfeit their examination fee and are required to pay the prescribed rewrite fee of $195 on registering for a subsequent examination.
