CCIB

If you have already attained your CAIB or AIIC designation, or if you have extensive insurance industry experience, it's time to earn your "graduate degree": Become a Canadian Certified Insurance Broker. View "A Personal Challenge for the Professional Insurance Broker" brochure [941KB PDF].

This national designation has long been recognized as the mark of insurance brokerage knowledge and experience.

The CCIB Program is a self-study program involving three exams. The exams are practical and experience-based.

Part 1

Essay Questionnaire

  • 3 1/2 hour examination

  • Comprised of 10 10-mark case-study-style questions

  • Tests the application of technical knowledge and risk management
Part 2 Short-Answer Questionnaire
  • 2 hour examination

  • Short-answer questions

  • Tests technical knowledge

If a candidate is unsuccessful with either written exam (part 1 or 2), they will be given the opportunity to challenge that part again on the next available examination date without losing credit for the part already completed.

Part 3

Survey Examination
(written option only)

  • Successful completion of both parts 1 and 2 (written exams) are a prerequisite to the survey exam

  • 5 hour open-book exam to prepare an insurance proposal

There are no books specifically for the exams. You may enhance the knowledge you have gained from your experience by using CAIB 1, 2, 3 and 4 as a study aid.

The CCIB exam are written at the same time as the May CAIB exams and the December CAIB exams.
