| Imagine that one of your clients is judged to
be legally liable for injuries suffered by a third party. What
would happen if the incident that caused the loss was covered
but your client was ordered to pay the injured party more than
the limit of liability? Would the claim be covered by the underlying
personal liability policy? In this up-to-date version of a
classic IBABC seminar, discover how to properly protect your
clients from financial hardship arising from excessive or unusual
third party liability losses by placing Personal Umbrella Liability
coverage for them. The topics covered in this seminar will
include: what umbrella insurance is and how it works; policy
limits; excess liability versus umbrella liability; retained
limit; maintenance of primary coverage limits; coverage features;
territorial limits; performing a coverage comparison; claims
examples; target markets for personal umbrella; and selling
tips. This is an interactive workshop that will engage you

When the insured comes home, there are usually bills to face from ambulances, paramedics, doctors, labs, hospitals, hotels and more. Some of them are paid directly by the travel medical company, others need to be submitted to BC Medical, and still others have already been or must be paid by the insured. This workshop will give you an excellent understanding of the overall process of travel medical claims. You will also undertake an in-depth comparison of the Canadian and American medical systems to give you the ability to be a trusted advisor to your clients during these very stressful times. |

Insurance to Value Symposium,
Part 1 (a.m.) –
The Right Value: The Challenge of Insuring to Value
3 Technical Credits
Moderator: Ted Lewis,
IBABC President |
| Determining adequate insurance valuations for homes, buildings and other structural aspects of real property has become a challenge for the insurance industry. The accuracy of initial information, the complexity of valuation tools, escalating reconstruction costs and conflicting expert opinions all add up to frustration for brokers, insurers and consumers. Insurers typically provide guaranteed replacement cost (GRC) in homeowner policies, but under-valuation of properties and resultant premium inadequacies could threaten the consumer protection GRC provides. In this symposium, several insurance professionals will discuss insurance-to-value issues from the perspective of the broker, underwriter and software developer. Solutions will require everyone in the insurance supply chain to work together. Audience members will be able to ask questions and participate. |

These questions and more will be answered for you in this highly informative seminar. You will learn about the various types of electrical wiring since the inception of electricity in homes, the risks associated with each type of wiring, concerns about the reliability and accuracy of inspections, plus modern solutions that significantly lower the potential for electricity-related losses.
