Web Broadcast Seminars
IBABC is now broadcasting selected Continuing Education seminars
live over the Internet. This will enable you to attend some seminars
in real time without leaving the comfort of your office or home.
Web Broadcasting enables IBABC to offer selected seminars over
the Internet to the entire province. Attendance is capped to make
Web Broadcast events more enjoyable for participants and more manageable
for presenters. Therefore, early registration is highly recommended
to ensure your participation.
[Note: Not all IBABC seminars will be broadcast via the Internet
due to instructor and learning material compatibility requirements.]
What Web Broadcasting is NOT
Web broadcasting is not watching a pre-recorded tape, engaging in
a pre-recorded online course, or attending a videoconference.
What is Web Broadcasting?
Web Broadcasting lets you interact with the seminar presenter in
real time over the Internet while simultaneously viewing his or
her PowerPoint presentation. You can type questions or speak to
the instructor during the session. Similarly, the seminar instructor
can interact with the participants and address their individual
questions.
[Note: Live video of the instructor's image is not provided due
to the unreliability of video streaming that Internet bandwidth
limitations impose.]
How does IBABC Web Broadcasting work?
IBABC uses the ReadyTalk (www.readytalk.com)
Web Conferencing platform to broadcast seminars over the Internet.
This enables simultaneous delivery of PowerPoint slides and other
visuals via computer and the instructor's voice via telephone (i.e.,
teleconferencing.)
What will I need to participate?
In order to participate in an IBABC Web Broadcast seminar, you must
have...
- A computer running Windows NT, XP, 2000, 98, XP Home, or ME
and connected to the Internet via high-speed access;
- An up-to-date Web Browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape);
- A telephone next to your computer (NO computer speakers or
microphone required.)
To check your computer for Web Broadcast compatibility, visit

and download any free updates that are indicated.
How do I register for a Web Broadcast
seminar?
Registration and payment for a Web Broadcast seminar is the same
as for a regular IBABC seminar. Be sure to provide IBABC with your
e-mail address. One week prior to the Web Broadcast seminar, we
will send registrants an e-mail message with detailed instructions
on how to login and participate. The procedure is relatively simple!
Can more than one person from our office participate at a time?
Yes, as long as we have room on the registration list, you are welcome
to register more than one person from your office at a time for
an IBABC Web Broadcast seminar. If you plan to share a computer
with one or more people (no more than three per PC recommended),
you must verify everyone’s full attendance by using an Attendance
Verification Form, available here
for download. Accreditation will only be granted upon IBABC receiving
the original, signed Attendance
Verification Form from your office Nominee. Nominees must be
pre-registered and must fully participate in the broadcast if they
wish to receive CE credits.
