Technical credits are given for seminars where the licensee’s
general insurance knowledge is improved, and includes courses that
enhance expertise in a particular insurance product.
Professional credits are granted for seminars where the objective
is to increase the licensee’s general business skills. Professional
seminars need not be insurance specific. Courses that could qualify
include management seminars, sales and marketing skills, and computer
development classes.
Please see the Insurance
Council of B.C. website for further details.
How many continuing education credits do I currently
have?
The IBABC Education Department can only tell you about the credits
you have received through our continuing education program. Please
contact Dawne Polak, Continuing
Education Assistant, at (604) 606-8012 should you require a personal
transcript. Please keep in mind that, as a licensee, you are responsible
for tracking your overall credits and courses for license renewal
purposes. We recommend that you keep a file dedicated to keeping
your continuing education course certificates and other proofs of
attendance. For a complete record of courses and seminars you have
taken prior to February 1, 2000, please contact the Insurance

offered by another education provider grant me?
The IBABC Education Department cannot comment on the amount and
type of continuing education credits granted by other education
providers. Please contact those providers for that information.
What proof does the IBABC provide for my having
attended one of your seminars?
To receive continuing education credits from an IBABC seminar, you
must sign in and out on the attendance sheets we provide
at our education events. Failure to do so will result in loss of
credits as these lists substantiate your attendance.
As for proof of attendance for you to take with you, the IBABC provides
personalized attendance certificates at the end of all our
continuing education seminars. If you do not receive a certificate
at one of our events, we always follow-up with one via courier /
mail for you, provided that you have signed in and out on the attendance
sheets provided.
Will IBABC seminars qualify me for Life C.E. credits?
Yes, some of our seminars qualify participants for both General

credits. For a current listing of IBABC seminars in your area please

will your videotape seminars grant me?

be rented by IBABC members. The customer service videos provide
professional credits. Each video seminar provides two (2)
hours of accreditation.Obtain information about our Video
