After the Fundamentals exam
You will receive your mark immediately upon completion of the online Fundamentals of Insurance exam.
If you fail the exam and want to rewrite it, you might be subject to a waiting period depending on the number of times you have written the exam already. Please keep in mind that waiting periods are not a form of punishment. They are necessary to ensure your knowledge at the time of testing is accurately measured. For the second attempt, there is no waiting period; you can schedule to rewrite as soon as you wish. The third writing must be attempted after a waiting period of at least one full month. The fourth and subsequent attempts must be separated by a six-month waiting period.

Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) exams are written on the same dates across Canada, and in up to 60 locations within B.C. Upon receipt of registration, IBABC will do its best to provide a convenient location for the examination. Within the Lower Mainland, exams are only written in Vancouver and Abbotsford.
Registration and payment must be received before the registration deadline.
Print the CAIB Registration Form [39K PDF] and fax it to 604 683 8497 with a credit card payment. We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express for your convenience. Or send by mail with a money order, company or certified cheque. (You will need the Adobe Acrobat Reader to view registration forms in PDF file format. Click here for a free download.)
On receipt of your examination notice, make note of the date, time and location, and plan to be at the exam location early so that you can write the exam in a relaxed, focused manner. You must present photo ID to the exam proctor.
Any breach of examination instructions will result in immediate disqualification and the student will not be allowed to rewrite the examination for a period of one year. The subsequent examination fee will be the full "exam only" fee and not the rewrite fee.
Students who fail to show for an examination forfeit the examination fee and are required to pay the rewrite fee on registering for a subsequent examination.
Exam deferral
You may defer your exam date as many times as you wish so long as you do so before your current exams Registration & Withdrawal Deadline. If, for any reason, you defer an exam after the Registration & Withdrawal Deadline has passed, you will be required to pay a $50 deferral fee. Paid deferrals can be submitted any time up to and including your current exam date, but not after.
After the exam
Results are available online (for students who have retained their student numbers from their exams) two weeks after the examination date. Mark cards will be mailed directly to the student after all examinations have been marked. Marks are not available by phoning the Association office.
Examinations may be re-written for a rewrite fee applicable each time. You may write an exam three times in a row, but will then have to wait six months before a further attempt will be recognized by the Insurance Council of BC if the exam is being written for licensing purposes.
You can have your exam remarked by submitting your request within two weeks of receiving your marks. The cost is $75 and the request must be submitted in writing. Please be aware that all exams scoring between 55% and 59% are automatically remarked, free of charge, in order to ensure the accuracy of your result.
