Scholarships

Children of insurance industry practitioners can give their post-secondary education a leg-up with one of several scholarships available to them:

A.H.B. "Spoon" Wotherspoon Memorial Scholarship

  • Administered by IBABC
  • $1,000 for first year of post-secondary education
  • Open to children or relatives of employees of IBABC members only
  • Deadline for application is March 31

Sports-Can Scholarship

  • Administered by IBABC
  • $2,000 for first or subsequent year of study in a post-secondary institution
  • Applicants must be an employee or a relative of a member of IBABC
  • Preference given to academic excellence, involvement in athletic sports and community service
  • Deadline for application is March 31

Don Ungaro President's Memorial Scholarship

  • Administered by IBABC
  • $2,500 for first or subsequent year of study in a post-secondary institution
  • Applicants must be an employee or a relative of a member of IBABC
  • Deadline for application is March 31

John F. Hamilton Scholarship

  • Administered by IBABC
  • Preference for this $2,500 scholarship given to applicants in second year of university
  • Applicants must be related to an individual employed in the insurance industry
  • Deadline is Sept. 1

Salute Scholarship Award

  • Administered by the Salute Committee
  • $2,500 for first year of post-secondary education
  • Applicants must be related to an individual employed in the insurance industry
  • Deadline for application is Sept. 15
